Adjunct Lecturer in History (2017)
I was an Adjunct Lecturer at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, which is a private liberal arts college and conservatory of music devoted to undergraduate education.
I taught a course titled, "Public History Management: Managing Cultural and Natural Heritage Sites." My curriculum dove into interrelated topics focusing on the issues and challenges of managing cultural and natural heritage resources worldwide - and including responsible visitation to these sites. I provided my students with firsthand learning in the form of field trips and case studies from my international fieldwork (see photos along the bottom of this page). |
Museum Assistant and Docent (2012 - 2013)
I was a Museum Assistant and Docent at the History Museum at The Castle in Appleton, Wisconsin. The museum is located in an old Masonic Temple, where the past comes alive through the stories, photographs, and artifacts of the people of the Fox River Valley.
The museum offers traveling exhibitions, such as the Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion exhibit, presenting local citizens with a glimpse into the great minds of famous people and their time and place in history. The exhibit displayed 40 operational working replicas of da Vinci’s amazing machines that were built in Florence, Italy according to his famous codices or manuscripts. I provided hands-on demonstrations for visitors and assisted them in handling the machines. I also offered a deeper understanding of the genius behind da Vinci's creations and answered myriad questions posed by visitors about the machines, da Vinci's life, and the museum in general. |
Door CountyI brought my students on a full-day field trip to Door County, Wisconsin, where they learned about the area's cultural and natural heritage and how it is managed.
