'Cambodia: Kingdom of Wonder' - National Branding Campaign (2008)
In 2008, I was the Sustainable Tourism and Branding Expert for GIZ and managed all aspects of producing the country's first-ever branding campaign, 'Cambodia: Kingdom of Wonder.'
GIZ and the IFC (private-sector arm of the World Bank Group) worked directly with the Ministry of Tourism. As a consultant, I worked directly with Dr. Thong Khon, Cambodia's Minister of Tourism, who was responsible for selecting the new branding campaign from a selection of proposals from six regional branding agencies. I was responsible for, and succeeded at, ensuring every detail of the campaign exceeded his expectations.
The campaign has become enormously successful and a significant part of the country's vernacular. It is being used in all forms of media, by the general public, and in private-sector companies' ad campaigns. I've been told the Prime Minister loves it, too!
By liaising with the chosen international advertising agency in Vietnam, I handled all account management duties for producing two versions of a brand book and a 60-second video clip (in English and Khmer) promoting the new brand.
